During a recent consultation meeting conducted by Children’s Development Support Services in Tanyaka Village, Itirikwa Sub-County Adjumani District from 25-26 April 2023 with key stakeholders on Services delivery, indicates challenges to access to clean drinking water as a priority because the village has two hand pumps boreholes for a population of 3156 and yet one borehole is to serve a population of 300-400 but one has broken down close to four months now living 70% of the population in dire need of clean drinking water.
Further the information from health facilities in the area also suggest too many cases of water borne diseases which is coherent with findings on the hygiene and sanitation. The community depends on dirty and often polluted source of water from the stagnant ponds and streams for their domestic use and for their animals, and yet these sources of water are unsafe for human consumption and domestic use. To Collect 20 litres of clean drinking water can take more than three hours walking per day for women, which detracts women from other household productive work and childcare and for children being sick from drinking dirty water, their school attendance is significantly affected, and the burden of fetching water from far seriously reduces the quantity of water available at household level and good time in food production
In light with the above problems, Children’s Development Support Services is kindly requesting for your generosity to support the rehabilitation of the broken boreholes by contributing money towards to the provision of Cements, Aggregates, Sand, wire mask, Hand assemble, moving kits, cylinder, rod, Iron bar and bearing which will cost over 1800USD to enable the community of Agalejo clan of Tanyaka village to drink clean water.
Every little bit counts and through prayer, love gifts, sharing this campaign and more, we can achieve this before July 2023. Thanks so much and can't wait to see what God will do these coming months. Kindly share.
